* Wash your hands thoroughly before you clean or touch your piercing or the surrounding area. * Take your H20cean Piercing Aftercare and spray it directly on your piercing. You can spray it on a Q-Tip first if this is easier for you. * Let the H20cean absorb into your skin for a few moments. * Take a Q-Tip and gently swab around your piercing to carefully remove lymph deposits (crusties). * DO NOT rotate your jewelry. * Repeat this 2 - 3 times per day until your piercing is healed.

SEA SALT SOAKS |
You may do sea salt soaks in addition to cleaning your piercing with H20cean Piercing Spray. Mix 8 ounces of very warm water with 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt (a coffee mug works well). Place the opening of the cup over your piercing and soak for about 10 minutes. Do this at most once a day.
ORAL |
*In addition to cleaning the outside of your oral piercing, you will also want to clean the inside with H20cean Rinse. For inner oral piercings such as tongues and tongue webs you will only have to clean the inside. * For the first first two weeks after your oral piercing, rinse after any eating, drinking or smoking. * After the first two weeks, rinse twice a day until you are completely healed.

WHAT IS NORMAL? |
* Initial swelling, bleeding, soreness, redness, tenderness or bruising. * During healing some discoloration or itching may occur. Secretion of a whitish-yellowish fluid (lymph, not pus) may form some crust around the jewelry. * The piercing may seem healed before the healing process is complete. This is because the piercing heals from the outside in. Although the piercing may feel healed, the tissue remains fragile on the inside. Be patient and keep cleaning it throughout the entire healing period. * DO NOT ROTATE YOUR JEWELRY!

PRODUCTS TO AVOID |
Rubbing alcohol, Bactine, Hydrogen Peroxide, Ear Piercing Solution, Antibacterial soaps (Soft Soap, Liquid Dial, etc.), Hibiclens, contact lens solution and other products like these. They are the absolute worst thing you could use on your piercing.
WHY?? |
These products are destructive to newly forming cells, and can kill important cells you need to heal your piercing. They will dry out and irritate your piercing, causing scarring. They can prevent your piercing from healing which can make it more prone to infection.
Products such as Bacitracin, Neosporin, Vaseline, A&D Ointment and other petroleum based ointments will clog your pores, preventing your piercing from being able to breathe properly. Healing a puncture wound is different than healing cuts and scrapes.

WHAT TO AVOID |
* Do Not touch or let others touch your piercing for any reason at all. * Avoid snagging your jewelry as this can disrupt the healing process and can even cause rejection. * Avoid friction from excessive motion, playing with the jewelry and vigorous cleaning. This can cause scar tissue, migration, rejection, prolonged healing and other complications. * Avoid submerging your piercing in bodies of water such as pools, lakes, rivers and hot tubs during the healing process. * Avoid buying any of your body jewelry form a mall. Mall jewelry is not professional. Also, never wear earrings in your body piercings. * Avoid all beauty and personal care products around the piercing area during healing. Examples include cosmetics, lotions, sprays, etc. * Avoid taking your jewelry out for long periods of time. If jewelry must be temporarily removed (surgery, sports, etc.) please contact us for a non-metal alternative. Remember, even old, healed piercings can shrink or close in minutes. * Avoid oral contact, rough play and any contact with any other body fluids in or around your piercing during the entire healing period. * Avoid using chemical products as they will destroy newly forming cells. This will do more harm than good. * Avoid changing your jewelry until your piercing is ready. Your piercer will let you know when the time is right.
