Check-Ups

The human body is an incredible work of art with the amazing ability to regenerate and heal. But it also does have occasional problems such as injuries, infections, illnesses and disease that need help to heal. We are all accustomed to dealing with these issues and seek medical treatment when necessary. Piercings of any kind anywhere on the body can occasionally have problems too. You would go back to your doctor if you have a problem after a medical procedure or you would go back to your dentist if you’re having a problem after having dental work, correct? It is equally as important to be able to go back to your piercer for a check-up if you have a problem with a piercing. Many shops either do not offer this service or they do but have little to no more knowledge on what should be done than you do. Our piercers are the busiest in the city which means they have the most experience. They are also highly trained about the unique problems piercings can have. We would never tell you not to see your doctor but we want you to know that we do offer check-ups from our piercers for an incredibly low fee of only $2.00 for all of our piercings*. For over 15 years we were able to offer this service for free. But unfortunately with the prices of everything we use going up we have no choice but to charge this low fee just to cover the expense of the materials used during your check-up. This is not income for us. We appreciate your understanding that we have to charge to cover these items. This is still much less expensive than paying for the co-pay for a doctor visit. 

The fee for check-ups of piercings that were not performed by one of our piercers is $10.00. In the past we also offered this as a free service. We have decided we have to charge a small fee for this for the following reasons. Over the 16+ years we have been open we have done literally thousands of check-ups of piercings that were done by other piercers or by people piercing themselves.  These people come to us for help when they developed problems because they know we’re the best this area has. This has cost us many thousands of dollars over the years in materials and countless hours of our piercers and receptionists time. We hoped that eventually people would learn to stop going to these places but the fact is, they haven't. We see more and more people every year and always hear the same thing. "They were cheap so I got it pierced there." We’re hoping that maybe if people realize they have to pay for the check-up in addition to that cheap piercing that they will opt to just get it done right the first time. Our piercers were willing to put in their time to learn all that they have and they deserve the respect of getting paid for their time to attend to the mistakes of others.

If you are experiencing a fever, nausea, extreme bleeding, or red lines like spider webs extending from the piercing it is very important that you seek medical treatment IMMEDIATELY from your doctor, urgent care or emergency department.

Luckily cases that severe are extremely rare. Most situations can easily be cleared up with simple methods and products readily available to you right at home. But knowing what the problem is and what to use is extremely important. Never let a piercing that seems to have a problem go unattended! Don’t delay, get a check-up as soon as possible if anything abnormal is suspected.
